This initiative was created by the global partnership between AIESEC and the United Nations, launched in December 2015 in New York.
AIESEC has committed itself to contribute to the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in three directions: to promote the 17 Sustainable Development Objectives, to increase their awareness among young people and to actively involve them in reaching the 17 objectives through our international programs.
It brings together young people, NGOs, businesses, and government representatives to engage in inspiring conversations around pressing global, national and local issues and create projects to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
What are we aiming for?
You have probably thought about how you could help reach the 17 SDGs or even learn more, didn’t you?
The forum aims to create an environment where people from diverse backgrounds can cross-pollinate ideas, share insights and gain new perspectives to create actionable outcomes to push the world forward.
YouthSpeak is about converting youth opinion into real-world impact. Understand and connect with what young people care about and help empower them to take action on issues that will create a positive impact in our society.
It will include talking and working for the Sustainable Development Goals, where we discuss about how we as the future generation, can contribute to the development of society in the context of global issues.
How do we do this?
1. Creating a movement
By creating and inspiring a global movement driven by the youth that unites a global community of people and leaders who want to make a difference in society.
2.Forming a global youth voice
By aiming to turn people’s opinions and thoughts into a global youth voice that amplifies the ability to create sustainable change by first understanding the challenges at hand, and then motivating to enable the change.
3. Advocating for change
By advocating on behalf of the global youth voice, we aim to work together with decision makers to drive change in areas like education and employment to enable e more young people to achieve their full potential.
What are the values YSF promotes?
“Just imagine what solutions must be found if young people are given the space and encouragement to participate and lead”
To create change, it must also change mindsets. Top business and thought leaders from around the world are invited to share their knowledge with delegates about the chosen forum theme. This section is delivered through short and powerful talks and aims to inspire delegates and help form their opinions.
We want to open the minds of delegates to think differently and spark new innovations.
Creating a positive impact requires different strengths and capabilities. By bringing together people from diverse backgrounds across sectors and geographies, we form a rich learning environment where speakers from varying organizations bring challenging perspectives and help ignite opinions from the delegates.
Our partner organizations engage with youth delegates to give new perspectives on issues relating to the forum theme through workshops, conversations and idea generation spaces. Youth and organizations interact with exchange opinions and understand what is being done in the world already to address the question of the day.
Taking action is the most important part. Youth delegates take their learning and insights from the day into space where they are able to co-create ideas and provide solutions with their peers and experts. The aim is to switch their ideas into actions that each stakeholder can take forward to contribute to the theme of the day, resulting in commitments and projects that organizations and stakeholders can support.
We connect resources and networks with the projects to enable a real impact to occur.
As the youth, we believe in the ability to empower, to lead and to make a difference.
We are constantly striving to make a positive impact on the world by talking about issues that matter. It’s time, that you as an individual start to contribute towards achieving these Sustainable Development Goals.
