There are only 24 hours in a day, and making the most of them is absolutely critical in today’s fast-paced world.
Productivity is essential when it comes to work because it directly correlates with your performance and the hours you put in. Quite often, you might find yourself stuck on a block, unable to work or be productive. You might not feel productive or you might not end up finishing all the work that you were supposed to, You feel a block!
Here are 4 ways to break that block and increase your productivity at work:
1. Avoid Multitasking
Working on three or four projects at once may seem productive, but it takes down your overall productivity and slacks your pace. The time you would usually set on one project gets divided into multiple frames, therefore reducing the quality and quantity of work done.
Instead of trying to do everything at once, divide your time into blocks for each project, with one block solely dedicated to that particular project for better emphasis, focus and ultimately a better result.
Smart multitasking instead of haphazard multitasking can help you achieve your goals in a short period of time without completely exhausting you!
2. Break, Break, Break
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
This quote sums up the importance that breaks or small pauses have when you work, especially during long work hours or peak delivery months.
Taking regular break refreshes your mind and helps you gain perspective, whereas no or very fewer breaks might cause frustration and fatigue that may ultimately take down the level of productivity as well as your motivation to work.
It is advised to take a 30-minute break for every 2 hours of intense work blocks so as to clear your mind and calm your nerves.
Break it down into smaller goals to increase your productivity and reduce concentration or over-exhaustion.
Big projects can be overwhelming, which may lead to procrastination or delays, and hence, breaking them down on a day-to-day basis can help in achieving big goals that may look unattainable.
4. Clear the clutter
“ A cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind.”
The more cluttered your surroundings are, the more abstract and random your thought process would be, which is not a bad thing when you are brainstorming. But on the other hand, it can also hamper your thought process while you are trying to focus.
Reduce the clutter around you, in terms of things, people, and noises, to improve levels of concentration and reduce the levels of distraction!
